The Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Michalis Damianos, toured the Deryneia Industrial Zone, the Mixed Industrial Zone of Category B and Economic Activities Frenaros, as well as the Frenarous Industrial Area, on July 6, 2026.
The aim of the tour, which took place at the invitation of the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), was to bring the Minister into direct contact with the industrial activity of the region and to better understand the issues that concern businesses.
As part of the tour, visits and guided tours of industrial facilities were carried out and a broad meeting followed with the participation of the President and members of the Industry Committee of OEB, the Mayor of Paralimni-Deryneia, the Deputy Mayors of Deryneia and Frenaroi, the Vice President of EOA Famagusta, senior executives of OEB and CCCI, the President of the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and others.
During the meeting, a number of issues affecting the operation, daily life and development prospects of businesses in the region were raised before the Minister and a fruitful dialogue was held.
A common finding was that the Ministry of EE&B makes every effort to promote solutions and regulations on issues that concern business, but also that many of them relate to the responsibilities of other Ministries and State Services.
OEB considers the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry to be a strategic partner in the effort to strengthen entrepreneurship and industrial development in Cyprus. Such tours enhance direct contact with businesses and local authorities, promote meaningful dialogue and contribute to the effective management of the challenges faced by the industry.
