The Education, Training and Talent Attraction Committee of OEB, chaired by Mr. Yangos Hadjiyiannis, held a meeting with the Management of the Human Resources Development Authority (HRDA), on May 5, 2026, in the context of a series of contacts of the Commission with competent bodies on issues of education, skills development and strengthening the competitiveness of Cyprus’ human resources.
During the meeting, the challenges faced by the labor market in relation to the existing skills gap and the need to promote targeted actions to upgrade and retrain human resources were discussed.
The HRDA presented its existing and future activities with an emphasis on programs aimed at people aged 15-29 and the pilot project “Individual Learning Accounts”. Particular emphasis was also placed on the need to strengthen digital skills, the promotion of lifelong learning, the importance of single-company training programmes, as well as the further linking of education with the needs of the labour market.
At the same time, possibilities for developing synergies between the Commission and the HRDA were discussed, with the aim of promoting practical solutions that will strengthen businesses and contribute to the more effective utilization of the country’s human resources.
OEB continues to actively contribute to the dialogue for the development of modern education and training policies that meet the needs of the economy and the labor market.
