Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union: Seriousness – Responsibility – Effectiveness

With the completion of the six-month Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) expresses deep satisfaction with the results produced and the overall footprint, which honors our country and multiplies the expectations of Cypriot business for the acceleration of reforms at the national level.

The Republic of Cyprus assumed the Presidency at a time of intense geopolitical turbulence and economic challenges and responded to its mission with seriousness, adequacy and effectiveness.

OEB congratulates the President of the Republic for the organized and effective exercise of the Presidency, as well as all the state and service officials who contributed to this national success.

During the Cyprus Semester, progress was recorded on a number of important European files, with particular importance for the competitiveness of the European economy, the strengthening of the Single Market, enlargement, migration, defence and security.

These developments are directly linked to the need for less administrative burdens, more predictable rules, a better functioning of the Single Market and enhanced competitiveness of businesses. In these critical areas, the European Institutions must accelerate the implementation of the reforms designed in cooperation with the leadership of European Enterprise, because businesses still do not feel any difference on the ground “From Ambition to Delivery – Stocktaking“.

OEB will continue to work responsibly and constructively, advancing the agenda of growth and prosperity on the basis of the decisions of its Annual General Meeting held on 28/4/2026 and approved the roadmap “From Ambition to Action“.
