The letter from the European Commission / DG GROW regarding the questionnaire to the Member States on the issue of “gold-plating”, i.e. the introduction, when transposing or applying EU law, of additional or stricter national requirements beyond those provided for by EU legislation is being forwarded.
The aim of the questionnaire is to collect information and experience from Member States on gold-plating practices, their prevention and detection mechanisms, as well as any areas of the Single Market where relevant practices are observed. The responses will be used by the Commission to prepare a tool/guide of good practices to avoid gold-plating.
Please send any comments, data or suggestions, no later than 2 September 2026, in order to enable the coordination and submission of a single response by the Republic of Cyprus. The submission of the questionnaire on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus will be done by DG Development.
