Announcement by the Department of Electromechanical Services for dangerous non-food products notified to the Safety Gate system

The Department of Electromechanical Services informs the consumer that, according to information received from the Consumer Protection Service during week 32 of 2025, through the website of the European Union (EU) Early Warning System for Dangerous Non-Food Products (Safety Gate), the following dangerous products were notified:

Details of dangerous products can be retrieved through the Safety Gate, using each product’s notification number.

The Department calls on importers, distributors, sellers who may have placed or are making such products available on the market of the Republic of Cyprus to immediately cease their disposal and notify the Department. It is noted that in case of recall, the above economic operators must take all necessary measures so that the products are immediately recalled from the market.

The Department also calls on consumers, in case they possess the above products, where appropriate, to stop using them and return them immediately to the place from which they have purchased them, informing the seller accordingly. Anyone who knows the points of sale of the above products is also requested to contact the Department immediately.

It is noted that according to the Law on Certain Aspects Concerning Contracts for the Sale of Goods of 2021, in case of purchase of a non-compliant product, the consumer is entitled to a replacement of the product, so that the product complies with the terms of the sales contract. If this is not possible, then the consumer is entitled to withdraw, i.e. to return the product to the seller and receive back the full amount paid. It is reminded that the above rights are valid for a period of two years from the initial delivery of the product to the consumer and that the sole responsibility towards the consumer always lies with the final seller.

In the event that the seller refuses to comply with the above consumer rights, the consumer is invited to submit his complaint in writing through the website of the Consumer Protection Service.
