The Department of Labour Inspection announces an inspection campaign in the Manufacturing sector during the months of May and November 2025

The Department of Labour Inspection (TEE) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance plans to conduct, during the months of May and November 2025, an inspection campaign on premises in the Manufacturing sector.

The campaign was designed taking into account the situation prevailing in Cyprus in relation to the main causes of occupational accidents, occupational diseases and dangerous incidents occurring in Manufacturing. The main causes of accidents at work and occupational diseases include unsuitable building facilities, unprotected/exposed dangerous parts of machinery and equipment, fumes or powders of hazardous substances, unsafe performance of metal cutting and welding work, and failure to apply protective measures when working at height.

The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness among all those involved in this economic activity in relation to the need to take measures to protect workers, as well as to ensure fair competition between businesses.

The campaign aims to check employers’ compliance with the relevant provisions of the Legislation on the provision of evidence-based education on safety and health issues, the implementation of a risk management system, the definition and implementation, based on the written risk assessment, of protection and prevention measures.

For information purposes, a list of checkpoints along with the corresponding explanations of the main risks and protection and prevention measures, on which this year’s campaign focuses, has been posted on the website of the Department of Labour Inspection.
