Temporary measures for third-country nationals who are outside the Republic and unable to return

The Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) informs its members about the temporary emergency measures announced by the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection on March 11, 2026, in relation to third-country nationals who are outside the Republic of Cyprus and face difficulties in returning due to the situation prevailing in the Middle East and the impact on air connections.

The measures aim to address practical difficulties that have arisen in recent weeks and affect both workers and the businesses that employ them. For the purposes of more complete information of the members, the relevant announcement of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection is attached.

Specifically, according to the announcement, the following temporary measures have been taken:

For holders of valid
residence permitsIt is allowed to enter the Republic with the existing residence permit until April 30, 2026, provided that the period of three months outside the Republic has been completed after February 28, 2026.

For holders of proof of receipt of an application for renewal of a residence
permitEntry into the Republic with proof is allowed until 30 April 2026, provided that the application is still pending or has been approved and that the period of three months outside the Republic has been completed after 28 February 2026.

For holders of entry permits with a maximum date of use between March 1, 2026 and March 31, 2026
Entry into the Republic is allowed until April 30, 2026, regardless of the expiration date of the period of use of the entry permit.

The measures are temporary in nature and aim to manage the extraordinary circumstances that have been created, through no fault of the affected persons.

The Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB) is monitoring the issue and is in communication with the competent authorities, with the aim of addressing practical issues that affect businesses and their employees.
