SETIL: The deadline for the Identification of Prepaid Mobile Telephony Cards expires on November 10, 2025

There is a visible risk that mobile phones with prepaid cards that will not have been identified will be “silenced”

The Association of Telecommunications Companies (SETIL), a member of OEB, points out that despite the increased attendance of people observed in recent weeks for the identification of prepaid mobile telephony cards, a large number of cards have still not been identified, which makes it possible to deactivate them on November 10, 2025.

SETEL calls on all users of prepaid cards to proceed immediately with the identification process, in order to avoid the interruption of the service, but also other unnecessary inconvenience.

At the same time, businesses and organizations that use prepaid cards for functional applications are invited to check the status of their connections in a timely manner and complete this process before the deadline of November 10, 2025.

The identification of prepaid cards is done through mobile telephony providers (Cyta, Epic, Cablenet and Primetel) and includes the registration of basic information such as: name, ID or passport number and telephone number. The process can be completed either by physical presence at the stores of the providers and their authorized Partners, or electronically, through the respective applications or websites. Timely identification ensures that the service continues without interruption.

It is recalled that according to the legislation in force since April 2024, all prepaid mobile telephony cards must be identified with their holder’s details by November 10, 2025. After this date, unidentified cards will be deactivated.
