The Commission for the Protection of Competition (HCC) has announced the launch of a public consultation on the bill entitled “The Control of Concentrations of Undertakings (Amendment) Law of 2025” and comments may be submitted until November 21, 2025.
It is noted that only written comments/opinions will be accepted, which will be submitted either through the e-consultation platform at https://e-consultation.gov.cy, or by e-mail in the Comment Submission Form (attached).
The aim of the attached Bill is to amend the existing Law on the Control of Business Concentrations Law [Law 83(I)/2014]. The proposed amendments are considered necessary for the modernization of the existing legal framework and its alignment with the provisions of certain European Regulations.
The bill includes, among others: (j) Amendment of the scope of the Law and the notification thresholds, (II) Alignment with the provisions of certain European Regulations, (iii) Strengthening of the powers and powers of the Committee, and (n) Corrections and improvements to individual provisions of the Law.
