The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), in relation to the announced strike of Carriers A’ that will take place on Monday, July 7, 2025, notes the following:
The serious issue of the lack of drivers has been of great concern to OEB for a long time. It significantly affects the functioning of many sectors of the economy (bus companies, logistics companies, business fleets, distributors, etc.), and for this reason coordinated efforts are constantly being made, in cooperation with the competent bodies and at the highest level, to solve the problem in a permanent and substantial way.
We understand the difficulties and problems that exist in the sector, however, the choice of strike mobilizations is a disproportionate measure with unpredictable consequences on the supply chain, on the operation of businesses and by extension on the economy in general.
OEB calls on POBEK and the professional hauliers to reconsider their decision and avoid the implementation of the strike. The continuation of the dialogue in a spirit of cooperation and in a climate of mutual respect is the only way to find substantive solutions, without jeopardising economic stability and the smooth functioning of the market.
