OEB Health Conference 2026”

Health as a Strategic Pillar of Economic Development and Social Resilience

The “OEB Health Conference 2026”, organized by the Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB) in Nicosia, was held with great success on Thursday, February 26, 2026. The Conference brought together over 250 representatives of the State, the scientific community, health providers, patients and other institutional bodies, in a meaningful and documented dialogue on the future of the health system in Cyprus.

The Conference opened with a greeting by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, which was read by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Ms. Klea Papaellina, and conveyed the message that health, in addition to its social role, is a critical pillar of competitiveness and long-term economic growth. At the same time, the State’s commitment to strengthening social and economic resilience through a sustainable health system was reaffirmed.

In his own address, the President of OEB, Mr. Giorgos Pantelidis, underlined that health must stop being treated as a “cost” and be recognized as a key driver of national prosperity and investment, economic resilience and social cohesion.

In the framework of the Conference, a roundtable discussion was held on the future of health systems, with an emphasis on workable solutions and human-centered results. The conference was attended by distinguished representatives from the fields of medicine, health policy, insurance and entrepreneurship, who presented their views and expertise.

During the work of the Conference, international trends and best practices were analyzed, among other things, around four main axes:

  • Prevention and Individualized Care, with an emphasis on the transition from disease management to prevention,
  • Sustainability and Cooperation, through public-private partnership and the key role of private insurance in supporting the GHS,
  • Digital Transformation, with a focus on technology, the ethical use of AI and ensuring cyber resilience,
  • Patient experience, as a central indicator of the quality and effectiveness of the services provided.

The “OEB Health Conference 2026” came to the common conclusion that, through strategic planning and collaborative solutions, Cyprus can shape a fully resilient and sustainable health system, which will be a high-return investment for the economy and society.

OEB expresses its warm thanks to all the participants and speakers who contributed substantially to the upgrading of the public debate. Everyone’s active participation and expertise strengthened the collective commitment to a better health system in Cyprus.
