The implementation of policies to prevent and address the use of alcohol and addictive substances at work, as well as the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on businesses, were the topics of discussion during the 17thmeeting of the Network of Labor Relations Professionals and Human Resources Management (SLRNetwork) held on July 23, 2025 by the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) and in which more than 130 professionals participated of the sector.
The event was welcomed by Mr. Michalis Antoniou, Director General of OEB, and Dr. Christos Minas, President of the Cyprus Addiction Treatment Authority (AAEK).
During her presentation, Ms. Leda Christodoulou, Officer of the Policy Department of AAEK, presented the Policy Plan and Procedures for the Prevention, Detection and Treatment of the Use of Alcohol and Illegal Addictive Substances in the Work Environment developed by the Authority, which can be adapted to the needs of each business.
Subsequently, Mr. Stylianos Christoforou, CEO of Stylianos Christoforou & Co LLC presented the most important obligations for businesses arising from the implementation of the European Regulation on AI.
Finally, Ms. Irene Loizidou Nicolaides, Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, developed during her presentation the dimension of the protection of personal data when it is kept or processed by businesses using software or other AI tools.
At the end of the presentations, a reception followed, in which the members of the Network had the opportunity to network and chat with the speakers.
