OEB at the International Labour Conference (ILO)

The Assistant Director General of the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) Ms. Lena Panayiotou and the Labour Relations and Social Policy Officer Ms. Elena Polyviou, participated on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in a meeting of the General Council of the International Organization of Employers (IOE) held in Geneva. During the meeting, important issues were discussed, including the impact of artificial intelligence on small and medium-sized enterprises.

At the same time, on Monday, June 2, 2025, the work of the 113th Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) began in Geneva, which will last until Friday, June 13, 2025. The conference will be attended by representatives from the 187 member states of the Organization, with the agenda including critical issues that affect and shape the future of work at a global level.

It is noted that the Agenda of the Conference includes issues of particular importance such as the protection of workers from biological hazards at work, the improvement of working conditions for platform workers and the improvement of working conditions at a global level.

The conference will be attended by Mr. Michalis Antoniou, Director General of OEB and Alternate Member of the Board of Directors of the International Labour Organization (ILO). As head of the Cyprus Employers’ Representation, he will deliver a speech before the plenary session of the Conference, on the morning of 9 June 2025.

The Senior Officer of Labour Relations and Social Policy, Mr. Polyvios Polyviou, will also participate in the OEB mission.

Since 1960, OEB has been continuously representing Cypriot Employers in the International Labour Organization as the only Cypriot Organization – Member of the International Employers’ Organization.
