New Digital Tool for Risk Assessment During Teleworking

The Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB) informs you that the Department of Labour Inspection (TEE), the competent authority for occupational safety and health issues, has developed in collaboration with the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) the new digital tool (Online interactive Risk Assessment OiRA) for the management of occupational risks arising from teleworking businesses and organizations in the private sector.

The need for the creation of the tool was highlighted by the daily feedback that OEB receives from businesses and was confirmed by the findings of the “Study on the Needs of Businesses on Occupational Safety & Health Issues” prepared by OEB during the implementation of the “Pillars of Development” Project which is implemented under the Cohesion Policy Program “THALIA 2021-2027” with EU co-financing.

Businesses can use the digital tool OiRA free of charge, to identify the risks arising from teleworking and then to take the necessary measures to protect the safety and health of employees employed in the form of teleworking.

OEB, utilizing its statutory participation in the Management Board of EU-OSHA and the Cyprus Safety and Health Council, recommends the utilization and inclusion of the digital tool in the integrated Safety and Health System of businesses and organizations, while contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the Action Plan of the Cyprus Strategy for Safety and Health at Work 2021-2027 and the Strategic Framework of the European Union for Safety and Health Health at Work 2021-2027.

The cooperation between OEB, TEE and EU-OSHA proves that through social dialogue, consultation and cooperation, initiatives can be taken and tools can be developed to achieve the common goal of continuous improvement of occupational safety and health levels.
