New Consumer Protection Law [Law 30(I)/2026]

The Federation of Employers & Industrialists (OEB) informs you that as of June 19, 2026 , the provisions of the new amending Law (harmonization with EU Directive 2023/2673) will come into force, bringing about significant changes in distance transactions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Withdrawal Function: Mandatory addition of a clear cancellation option on websites and applications for immediate withdrawal of the consumer.

  • Financial Services: Stricter rules for pre-contractual information and explanations for services sold remotely.

  • Dark Patterns: Prohibition of deceptive practices in web design that affect the user’s free decision.

Affected businesses are requested to immediately proceed with a technical upgrade of their websites and an update of the terms of the contract, in order to ensure full compliance by the date of implementation.
