Delays in the development licensing procedures and their impact on the housing issue were at the center of a meeting held by the Real Estate Development Association – Member of OEB – with the President of the Limassol District Self-Government Organization, Mr. Yiannis Tsouloftas.
The meeting held on Monday, March 9, was attended by the President of the Association, Mr. Yiannis Misirlis, members of the Board of Directors, as well as the General Manager, Mrs. Mersina Isidorou.
During the constructive discussion, the significant delays recorded in the development licensing process were discussed. As pointed out, despite the efforts that have been made to speed up the procedures, the problem still exists, as in many cases, the time required for the issuance of permits is longer than the time required for the construction of a project itself.
The President of the Association, Mr. Yiannis Misirlis, underlined that delays are one of the main factors that intensify the housing problem, as they limit the market’s ability to respond in a timely manner to the increased demand for housing. As he noted, the acceleration of permits is a basic condition for strengthening the supply of housing, supporting development activity and ensuring the smooth operation of the real estate market.
During the meeting, Mr. Misirlis also pointed out the importance of dialogues and cooperation between EDAs and industry professionals, with the aim of addressing existing challenges and promoting practical solutions that will contribute to the sustainable development of all cities.
