A meeting was held at the offices of SEK in Nicosia, with the participation of the guilds OMEPEG SEK and SYXKA PEO, the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), as well as representatives of the companies BOLT, FOODY and WOLT.
The meeting was held on the initiative of the trade unions SEK and PEO, as well as the OEB, in the context of a joint effort to exchange views on the safety of workers in the distribution sector.
During the discussion, the common understanding of all stakeholders on the importance of road safety and the need to protect distributors was confirmed, through the continuation and strengthening of their training by companies, in cooperation — where possible — with trade unions.
Special reference was also made to the serious issue of attacks against distributors.
It was agreed that the competent state bodies will also be invited to the next meeting, so that proposals and ideas for improving the protection measures for workers in the sector will be put on the table.
