The significant contribution of the real estate and construction development sector to the progress and prosperity of the Cypriot economy and society, was highlighted in the context of a meeting held by the Real Estate Development Association (Member of OEB), with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Konstantinos Ioannou, the Deputy Minister of Migration, Mr. Nikolas Ioannidis, the Deputy Minister to the Presidents, Mrs. Irene Piki, the Government Spokesperson, Mr. Konstantinos Letymbiotis, and the Director of the Press Office of the Democratic Party, Mr. Victor Papadopoulos.
On behalf of the Association, the meeting was attended by the President of the Board of Directors Mr. Yiannis Misirlis, the Deputy President Mr. Dimitris Assiotis, the Vice President Mr. Antonis Kakoulis, the Secretary Mr. Savvas Georgiadis, the Treasurer Mr. Panicos Livadiotis, the Honorary President Mr. Michalis Hadjipanagiotou, as well as the Executive Secretary of the Association Mr. Antonis Frangoudis.
At the heart of the meeting that took place on Monday, June 23rd, in a particularly constructive and positive atmosphere, were a series of issues that concern the real estate sector and its professionals, with the aim of creating the right conditions for the strengthening of the sector and its competitiveness.
In particular, the acceleration of the procedures for the issuance of building permits was raised, with the Association once again welcoming the efforts made by the Ministry of the Interior in this direction, and pointing out the need to ensure the smooth operation of the Provincial Local Government Organizations.
The meeting also discussed addressing the housing problem, with Mr. Misirlis pointing out that housing remains one of the most important challenges of the market. At the same time, stressing that ensuring affordable housing is a priority for both the Association and the State, he proceeded to submit additional proposals that can further strengthen the government’s housing policy.
The President of the Association, Mr. Yiannis Misirlis, warmly thanked the President for the productive discussion and assured him that the Cyprus Real Estate Development Association will continue to contribute responsibly to the formation of a modern, functional and sustainable sector, which continues to stand firmly as one of the most dynamic pillars of development in Cyprus.
