The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry informs the public that the European Commission has announced the 2025 Product Safety Award for businesses and researchers.
The European Commission’s Product Safety Award aims to honour companies that put consumer safety at the core of their business activities and provides prestige recognition to those who innovate and exceed the requirements set out in the relevant legislation and standards of the European Commission.
At the same time, the European Commission’s award aims to encourage and honour innovative research in the field of consumer product safety. The award recognizes researchers whose work has a significant impact on protecting consumers from dangerous, non-food products.
Who can participate:
A. Companies
Applications can be submitted by businesses that:
• Are registered in one of the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA) (Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).
• Present an initiative that goes beyond the requirements of EU legislation and supporting standards and aims to increase consumer safety (e.g. by improving the safety of products/shopping channels frequently used by consumers or through awareness-raising actions on product safety risks).
• They operate according to internationally recognized Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) criteria.
There will be separate prizes for small and medium-sized enterprises.
B. Researchers
Applications can be submitted by researchers who:
• Are nationals of one of the 30 EEA countries (European Union Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) or are affiliated with academic institutions based in the EEA.
• Submit research findings that have significant implications for improving the safety of consumer products, and which have been published or presented at an academic conference in the last 4 years.
• They only cooperate with non-profit organizations for the purposes of this research.
As a winning researcher, you will be invited to present your research at the award ceremony and the upcoming International Product Safety Week 2026.
