Nano-Carbon Caps

The Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB) participates in the collaboration network of research project “Novel Nano-Enhanced Carbon Capture Systems for Industrial Post Combustion Processes”, with the acronym Nano-Carbon Caps. The Project is funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility of the NextGenerationEU instrument, through the Research and Innovation Foundation.

The project’s general objective is the development, operation, and evaluation of an innovative carbon dioxide capture system, based on:

• the application of hydrophobic nanofibrous membranes in an intensified carbon dioxide separation and capture reactor,
• the replacement of the absorbent amines used in state-of-the-art reactors with ionic liquids,
• the verification and optimisation of the system using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling.
