With regard to the above issue, the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) informs you of the following:
The Cyprus Addiction Treatment Authority (AAEK) has developed a Policy Plan and Procedures for the Prevention, Detection and Treatment of the Use of Alcohol and Illicit Addictive Substances in the Work Environment. With this initiative, AAEK aims to create a safe, quality and productive workplace for the staff of each organization/company/service. Any form of abuse of alcoholic beverages and/or illegal, addictive substances poses a threat to the health and safety of employees, as well as to the safety of any equipment and/or facilities.
This Plan, which is attached, has been drafted in both Greek and English, in order to meet the needs of various organizations that need guidance from AAEK in the handling of such cases of use of addictive substances by their employees. It is a practical guide for the adoption of relevant policy by organisations, contributing to the development of strategies aimed at eliminating the use and abuse of alcohol and illicit addictive substances in the workplace. It is understood that each organization/company/service will have to adapt the Plan according to their own data.
It is noted that the Scheme has been consulted with all competent bodies, as well as with the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection.
For further information regarding the Plan, you can contact the competent officer of AAEK, Mrs. Leda Christodoulou at the 22442962 or at the email address leda.christodoulou@naac.org.cy
