The Cyprus Organization for Standardization (CYS) announces the start of registration of household installations in the Register of Cottage Industry.
The Register of Cottage Industry was created in the framework of the Law on the Establishment of the Register of Cottage Industry and Other Related Matters (Law 129 (I)/2023), and the Cyprus Organization for Standardization (CYS), as the official National Standardization Body and as an independent organization with the State as the sole shareholder, has undertaken the management of the Register in accordance with the above Law.
Household installations of animal, plant and handicraft products may be registered in the Register of Cottage Industry, which meet the requirements of the above Law, as well as the requirements set by the Competent Authority, depending on the type of products. For each of these three categories, the appropriate application must be submitted.
It is noted that a necessary prerequisite for the submission of applications is that the relevant authorization has already been secured by the respective Competent Authority, as follows:
- For products of Plant Origin, the Letter of Registration of the Establishment of a Cottage Industry as a Food Business by the Health Services.
- For products of Animal Origin, the Food Establishment Registration Certificate from the Veterinary Services.
- For handicraft products, the Certificate of Handicrafts/Household Installation from the Cyprus Handicrafts Service.
