Construction Site and Thermal Load Control Inspection Campaign – March, June – September 2026

The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) informs its Members that the Department of Labor Inspection of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, during the months of March, June, August and September 2026, will conduct a special targeted inspection campaign on construction sites, with an emphasis on protection against falls and thermal load control on construction sites and premises.

 

The campaign focuses on:

  • The prevention of falls from a height and the implementation of appropriate collective and personal protection measures.
  • Compliance with the basic provisions of the legislation on safety and health at work in relation to the heat stress of workers.

 

The aim of the campaign is to strengthen the prevention and reduction of accidents at work, occupational diseases and dangerous incidents in the construction sector.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the control of compliance with the Decrees on Safety and Health at Work, concerning the Code of Practice for the Heat Stress of Workers, K.A.P. 291/2014, K.D.P. 206/2020 and P.D.A. 231/2023, as well as with the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations for the Minimum Standards in Temporary or Mobile Construction Sites, P.D.P. 410/2015.

 

During the inspections, the following will be checked, among others:

  • The existence and implementation of a Written Risk Assessment.
  • Taking preventive measures for working at height.
  • The proper use of scaffolding, railings and restraint systems.
  • The implementation of measures to deal with high temperatures, such as adjusting working hours, breaks, drinking water supply and shading.
  • The information and training of employees.

Members operating in the construction sector or maintaining construction sites and related facilities are encouraged to carry out a timely compliance check and to ensure the full implementation of the measures envisaged.
