As part of a compliance control campaign for chemicals placed on the market, the Department of Labor Inspection (TEE) will proceed with systematic checks for the correct classification, labeling and packaging of products sold in stores, supermarkets, kiosks, DIY stores, shopping malls, etc. including those available for sale online (online sales).
In particular, the aim of the relevant European campaign is to check the obligation to NOTIFY hazardous chemicals to the European Portal for Poison Centres and to verify the characteristic 16-digit UFI code (Unique Formula Identifier) that must be indicated on their label.
According to Article 45 and Annex VII of the European CLP Regulation, as of 01.01.2025, companies that sell hazardous chemicals (mixtures) in the Cypriot market, are obliged to have ensured that the required NOTIFICATION has been submitted to the European Poison Centres Portal for their products. Each notified product bears a distinctive UFI code on its label. This code is unique and different for each mixture and uniquely links the composition of the mixture and its danger.
Before placing chemicals on the market, companies should ensure that their products comply with the above obligations.
