Annual General Meeting of the Property Developers Association: “Real estate development – a driving force for progress for Cyprus”

“The real estate development sector is a pillar of the Cypriot economy – a lever that shapes modern Cyprus and contributes to the progress of our country and its people” pointed out the President of the Propery Developers Association, Mr. Yiannis Misirlis, at the Annual General Meeting held successfully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

The General Assembly was honored by the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, the Minister of Interior, Mr. Constantinos Ioannou, representatives of political parties, officials and high-ranking executives of business and professional associations. Greetings were addressed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, on behalf of the President of OEB, Mr. Giorgos Pantelides, the former President of OEB, Mr. Giorgos Petrou and the General Director of KOAG, Ms. Eleni Symeonidou.

In a speech addressed by the President of the Real Estate Development Association, Mr. Yiannis Misirlis, he underlined that the real estate development sector remained a driving force for prosperity and progress for Cyprus, in the face of the challenges that the country was called upon to face in previous years.

Also pointing out the need to continue the dynamic course that the country is following through the strategic response to the challenges, the President of the Association referred to affordable housing as the greatest social challenge. “In the upcoming presidency of Cyprus in the EU, our country can, with a strong will, contribute substantially to the effort to deal with the problem,” he said, stressing at the same time the readiness of the Association to support this effort.

Mr. Misirlis also referred to the significant progress that has been recorded in the effort to institutionalize the profession of Land Development Entrepreneur. “It is an initiative that declares who we want to be as an industry: professionals with accountability, market with transparency, country with credibility,” he stressed.

Also referring to the “green” transition, he pointed out that the industry is ready to lead this effort, with the valuable contribution of the state.

In closing, Mr. Yiannis Misirlis thanked the President of the Republic of Cyprus and the Minister of Interior for the high level of cooperation that was developed with the common goal of a modern and competitive Cyprus.

“We believe in a country that dares and pioneers. With cooperation and faith in our capabilities, we continue to contribute to a Cyprus that aims high and has all the resources to get there,” he concluded.
