Based on the data kept at the District Labor Offices, the number of registered unemployed at the end of May 2026 amounted to 7,936 people. Based on seasonally adjusted data, which reflect the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed in May 2026 decreased to 10,476 people, compared to 10,516 in the previous month. (Table 1)
Compared to May 2025, an increase of 558 people or 7,6% was recorded. This increase is mainly attributable to the areas of accommodation and food service services, administrative and support activities, transport and professional, scientific and technical activities. (Table 2)

Methodological Information
Registered Unemployed
The number of registered unemployed refers to people over the age of 15 who apply to the District and Local Labour Offices of the Department of Labour to find a job and are registered as unemployed. These people must be able and available for work and actively seek work. The monthly number of registered unemployed refers to people who on the last day of each month have an active application to find a job.
The number of registered unemployed does not include the self-employed, people looking for part-time work, as well as people looking for work in a specific area or with a specific employer.
