The Education, Training and Talent Attraction Committee of OEB, chaired by Mr. Yiangos Hatzigiannis, held a telemeeting with the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA), on May 7, 2026, in the context of its contacts with competent bodies on issues of education, skills development and strengthening the competitiveness of Cyprus’ human resources.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on issues related to the interconnection of higher education with the needs of the labor market, the upskilling of human resources and the importance of developing more flexible forms of learning.
At the same time, issues related to the attraction and retention of young talent in Cyprus were discussed, as well as the need to strengthen the international competitiveness of the higher education sector by attracting students and specialized human resources from abroad.
During the discussion, the importance of vocational training, the strengthening of technical professions and the continuous upgrading of the education system, in order to meet the modern needs of the labor market, was also underlined.
OEB continues to promote dialogue and cooperation with all relevant bodies, with the aim of formulating modern education and skills development policies that enhance the competitiveness of the Cypriot economy.
