The Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB) informs you that the European Commission has launched a public consultation for the preparation of a Strategy for the islands. The consultation will run from 4 March to 1 April 2026.
In this context, all stakeholders (national, regional and local authorities, organised groups, economic and social partners, representatives of civil society and other interested parties) are invited to submit their views on the preparation of the Strategy. A relevant information document prepared by the European Commission is attached.
It is noted that the preparation of an EU Strategy for the Islands, which will recognize the challenges faced by the islands due to their geographical status and provide a strategic approach to support them, is expected to be an asset for Cyprus. Therefore, it is considered important to submit the suggestions and positions of the Cypriot stakeholders in order to highlight and emphasize the challenges faced by Cyprus (directly and indirectly), as an island member-state.

The Islands Strategy is expected to be presented by the European Commission in Cyprus, in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, at the end of June 2026.
