The Association of Accredited Laboratories of Cyprus – SDIEK (Member of OEB), the collective body representing accredited laboratories, held its annual ordinary General Assembly on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the offices of OEB with the participation of a large number of Members.
During the Assembly, the Association’s actions were presented, as well as the main challenges faced by the sector, with an emphasis on ensuring and continuously upgrading the quality of laboratory services, which is a cornerstone for patient safety, the reliability of results and the proper functioning of the health system. Members also held an extensive discussion on the Health Insurance Organization’s proposals for the reimbursement framework, underlining the need for a system that reflects the technical requirements, the high quality standards of accredited laboratories and the real costs.
In the context of the Assembly, the elections for the new Board of Directors of SDIEK, which consists of:

- Vice President: Polys Georgiadis, Medicover
- Secretary: Tasos Kalogiannis, Yiannoukas Labs
- Treasurer: Marios Stylianou

- Andria Theodorou, Mediquest
- Konstantinos Theocharides, Theocharides Clinical Laboratories
- Stelios Christou, Megalab
The new Board of Directors is called upon to continue and strengthen the efforts of SDIEK to promote the quality, reliability and sustainable development of accredited laboratories, while ensuring the dynamic and responsible representation of the industry vis-à-vis all competent authorities and bodies.
