OEB suggests your attention: Increased phishing attempts for alleged payment of invoices

The Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB) wishes to draw your attention to increased reports of phishing/fraud incidents related to alleged invoice payment requests.

E-mails have been observed which are presented with the OEB logo, use misleading sender addresses such as Oeb Billing and with the e-mail address rodash@cytanetcy.com and ask for the immediate payment of an invoice. These messages are fraudulent and pose a serious risk of financial damage.

Below is a sample of the wording in the relevant scam message:

Dear Customer,

Your invoice is now available online. You can view it and proceed to pay through your service or via the link below. The relevant PDF file is attached/available.

VIEW INVOICE / VIEW ELECTRONIC ACCOUNT

If the link doesn’t work, copy and paste the following address into your browser:

https://oeb.

Note: Your electronic invoice is provided for your convenience. For questions or support, please contact customer service.

Tel. / Telephone:7777 0000 | E-mail:support@oeb.org.cy

We recommend that:

  • Check the sender and email address very carefully.
  • Do not make any payment without prior confirmation from our accounting department.
  • Don’t open links or attachments from suspicious messages.
  • Always cross-check requests to change bank accounts by telephone.
  • Immediately inform your IT/accounting department of any suspicious incident.

OEB is monitoring the issue and remains at your disposal for any clarification.
