True to its commitment to promoting gender equality, the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) is moving forward with new actions, aimed at empowering women and supporting social cohesion.
On October 30, 2025, a ceremony for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between OEB and the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality took place at the OEB building in the presence of the First Lady, Filippa Karsera Christodoulides.
The Memorandum provides for the implementation of six strategic actions with a substantial and measurable impact:
- Digital Application for Equality Issues in the Labor Market: A modern platform that will bring together information, tools, legal texts and good practices, acting as a “digital center of gravity” for equality.
- Self-Assessment Tool for Businesses: Designed primarily for small and medium-sized enterprises, promoting conscious compliance and recognition of internal areas for improvement.
- Gender Equality Academy: With a focus on remote areas, it will offer systematic education and training, ensuring equal opportunities for all.
- Information Campaign in Media and Advertising Companies: The aim is to deconstruct gender stereotypes in language and images that shape the collective consciousness.
- “Become an Entrepreneur for a Day” Program: It will offer experiential experience and mentoring to young women, enhancing their participation in business leadership.
- Female Role Model Day in schools: students will come into contact with successful women from all sectors of society, promoting the value of role models through example.
The President of OEB, Mr. Giorgos Pantelidis, in his greeting, stressed that these actions are not fragmentary but are aspects of a holistic plan, which aims to lead gender equality from the beginning, to practice, from rhetoric, to politics, from the margins, to the core of our institutions.
OEB is committed to leading the promotion of these actions with consistency, transparency and social sensitivity, creating a business and social environment where equality of opportunity is based on solid foundations.
At the same time, OEB presented the Album “Leading the Way: Cypriot Women Who Inspire”, a publication-result of collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner for Equality, which is under the auspices of the First Lady.
Mrs. Filippa Karsera Christodoulides said that the leap that Cyprus has experienced in terms of equality is huge, considering the conditions of the past and the current data. He stressed, however, the importance of continuing efforts to achieve equality in Cypriot society, underlining that, although the road to full equality remains long, actions and changes are constantly being taken that are important steps in the right direction.
The Album records 67 Cypriot women who hold top state, political or institutional offices and highlights personal stories, experiences and successes that often remain unknown to the general public. Through its pages, it serves as a source of inspiration for the new generation of women leaders and reinforces the message that women’s empowerment is a key prerequisite for social and economic progress.
OEB confirms that gender equality is not only a moral obligation but also a strategic choice for sustainable development, social cohesion and innovation. Through the promotion of equal opportunities and the empowerment of women, Cyprus is building a more just, dynamic and creative future.
