The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) has been implementing since January 2022 the Measure “Promoting the Circular Economy in Hotel Facilities” which is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility of the European Union as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) of Cyprus for the period 2021 – 2026.
The Measure aims to improve the competitiveness and resilience of hotels and tourist accommodation through the adoption of sustainable business practices and the implementation of circular business models.
In the context of the mapping of the European Circular Economy Profile for 2024, the European Environment Agency (EEA), – the European Union’s organization for the promotion of sustainability – recognized the Measure as an innovative good practice[1], highlighting its contribution to promoting sustainable development in Cyprus.
This European recognition is a strong proof of OEB’s expertise, confirming its leading role in circular economy issues. At the same time, it is an honorary distinction for OEB as it is highlighted by the European Union its active role in Cyprus’ transition towards a more sustainable and sustainable development model.
