You are informed about the conduct of a public consultation of the Department of the Environment regarding the draft Regulations entitled “The Waste (Landfill Tax of Municipal Waste) Regulations of 2025” (attached).
The proposed Regulations regulate the imposition of a tax on the final disposal of municipal waste in municipal landfills with the aim of encouraging the prevention, reduction, preparation for re-use, separate collection and recycling of municipal waste and, as a result, the reduction of the quantities of municipal waste disposed of in landfills.
The draft Regulations are being put up for public consultation on the www.e-consultation.gov.cy online platform and you are kindly requested for your comments by 24/02/2025.
