18th Innovation & Research Awards by OEB and RIF: Exclusive Statements

The ceremony for the award ceremony of the Cyprus Innovation Awards (OEB) and the Cyprus Research Awards (RIF) took place with great success.

In an impressive ceremony, which took place at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre on Wednesday 26 March 2025, the best innovations that have already been implemented and implemented were awarded. During this year’s Innovation Awards, a total of five innovation awards were awarded by OEB:

• In the category ‘Social Innovation’, the Cyprus Institute and specifically the “Andreas Pittas” Art Characterization Workshops (APAC Labs) were awarded.

• In the category ‘Manufacturing Sector’, the distinction was secured by Advanced Automation Systems Ltd.

•In the ‘Primary Sector’ category, the company Charalambides Christis was awarded.

• In the category ‘Services Sector’, the award was awarded to the company KEDIFAP.

The RIF awarded six researchers from our country, who managed to make a difference and pioneer with their work and research. Especially:

• The ‘Cyprus Research Award – Commercial Exploitation of Research Results’, was awarded to Irene Sargiannidou and the team of the Department of Neurosciences of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.

• The ‘Cyprus Research Award – Young Researcher in the thematic unit Natural Sciences and Engineering’, was awarded to Dr. Simone Bacchio.

• The ‘Cyprus Research Award – Young Researcher in the thematic unit Life Sciences’, was awarded to Dr. Evelina Charidimou.

• The ‘Cyprus Research Award – Young Researcher in the Social Sciences’, was awarded to Dr. Penelope Constantinou.

• The ‘Cyprus Research Award – Distinguished Researcher’, was awarded to George Georgiou.

• The ‘Cyprus Research Award – Distinguished Researcher’, was awarded to Jean Sciare.

OEB and RIF rewarded scientific excellence and innovative business activity, keys to sustainable growth and competitiveness, as well as to the successful management of a variety of challenges at local and international level. The 2025 Awards were presented to the winners by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.
