ANNOUNCEMENT OF OEB – CCCI <\/strong><\/p>\n

LEGAL OPINION OF ACHILLEAS EMILIANIDIS: <\/strong><\/p>\n

UNCONSTITUTIONAL ANY LAW ON Cost of Living Allowance (CoLA) IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) have jointly requested and received a Legal Opinion from the renowned Constitutionalist Mr. Achilleas Emilianides on the issue of the legislative enforcement of CoLA in the Private Sector. <\/p>\n

The Legal Opinion, which results in a finding of unconstitutionality, has been sent to the President of the Republic and is published in its entirety.<\/p>\n

CCCI and OEB express disappointment and deep concern about the unilateral handling of this issue and call on the Government to remain committed to the system of trilateral cooperation and the Code of Industrial Relations.<\/p>\n

If, in spite of hope, he chooses the legal path, labor relations will be transferred from the rooms of negotiation and cooperation to the halls of the Courts and litigation.<\/p>\n
