{"id":47745,"date":"2025-08-22T12:24:32","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T10:24:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oeb.org.cy\/publication-of-weekly-eu-notifications-on-unsafe-products-notified-to-the-rapex-safety-gate-system\/"},"modified":"2025-08-22T12:24:32","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T10:24:32","slug":"publication-of-weekly-eu-notifications-on-unsafe-products-notified-to-the-rapex-safety-gate-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oeb.org.cy\/en\/publication-of-weekly-eu-notifications-on-unsafe-products-notified-to-the-rapex-safety-gate-system\/","title":{"rendered":"Publication of weekly EU notifications on unsafe products notified to the RAPEX Safety Gate System"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Consumer Protection Service (CPS) of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry, as the competent Authority in Cyprus for the operation and management of the European Rapid Exchange of Information System <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/safety-gate\/#\/screen\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on Dangerous Products<\/a> that are not food, informs consumers that in the week starting on 11\/08\/25 (RAPEX \u2013 Report 33) 99 products that present a risk to their health and safety have been notified to the System. These products were identified in the markets of several European Union (EU) Member States and then notified to the RAPEX Safety Gate System.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers can be informed about dangerous products on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.consumer.gov.cy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a> of the Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n<p>The 99 products were allocated for market control purposes as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sixteen (16) to the Consumer Protection Service, with two (2) of them having been notified to the system from Cyprus.<\/li>\n<li>Twenty-three (23) in the Department of Road Transport.<\/li>\n<li>Twenty-two (22) in the Department of Pharmaceutical Services.<\/li>\n<li>Twenty (20) to the Labour Inspection Department, with one (1) of them having been notified to the system from Cyprus.<\/li>\n<li>Eleven (11) in the Department of Electromechanical Services.<\/li>\n<li>Six (6) in the Department of Environment.<\/li>\n<li>One (1) in the Department of Agriculture (Biocides).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The products related to the CCP, as well as the corresponding risks involved, are described in the table below. It should be noted that products with serial numbers 1 to 15 have been evaluated by the European Commission as serious risk products, while product number 16 has been evaluated by the European Commission as a lower risk product. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Recommendations \u2013 Warnings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is noted that out of the above 16 products, two have been initially identified by the Ministry of Agriculture in the Cypriot market (without having previously been identified in the other member countries) and have proceeded with their commitment and withdrawal.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the products are likely to be on the Cypriot market and directly threaten the health and safety of consumers, especially children. The Ministry of Environment has already begun intensive market controls for any identification of the products. <\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Agriculture calls on importers, distributors, sellers who may have such products to immediately stop making them available and to notify the Service.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Commerce also calls on consumers, in case they possess the above products, where appropriate, to stop using them and return them to the seller, i.e. to the store, from which they have purchased them, and at the same time to inform the seller accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>It is noted that according to the Law on Certain Aspects Concerning Contracts for the Sale of Goods of 2021, in case of purchase of a non-compliant product, the consumer is entitled to a replacement of the product, so that the product complies with the terms of the sales contract. If this is not possible, then the consumer is entitled to withdraw, i.e. to return the product to the seller and receive back the full amount paid.
