Completion of the Conference on “Financing the green transition of Cypriot hotels”

The Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB) successfully held on June 24, 2021, an online conference on “Financing the green transition of Cypriot hotels”, as part of the Hotels4Climate program.

The Conference started by a welcome note from the President of OEB Mr. Antonis Antoniou, who referred to the ambitious goals of the European Commission for energy & climate, the importance of the green restart of the hotel industry especially after the effects of the pandemic of COVID-19, as well as the Strategies recovery tools and tools to enable this green restart.

Keynote speakers at the conference were:

  • Mr. Andreas Lizidis, Industrial Applications Officer A’, Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, who presented the Plans of the Ministry for energy upgrading and renewable energy technologies (RES),
  • Mr. Xenios Konomis, Director of Business, Bank of Cyprus, presented the Bank’s Financial Products related to green transition,
  • Mrs. Anthi Charalambous, Director of the Energy and Environment Division of OEB, presented the Financial tools and mechanisms for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the hotel sector, and
  • Mr. Panagiotis Kastanias, Officer of the Energy & Environment Division of OEB, presented the Assessment of the current energy situation in the hotel sector in Greece and Cyprus and the appropriate emission reduction measures.
