The Director General of the Cyprus Employers and Industrialist Federation (OEB), Michael Antoniou read a speech today at the 107th International Labour Organisation Conference, held in Geneva.
According to OEB’s Director General, «globally, women are only as low as 70% of the workforce than men, while they earn about 20% less than men and are usually victims of violence or harassment at work».
In order to achieve equality, legislating is useful but not sufficient, Mr. Antoniou explained while calling on businesses to do more and employers’ organisations to encourage practices and rules that can bridge and ultimately eliminate the gap between men and women».
In addition, the OEB Director General, referred to some of the steps that the Federation has made in recent years towards equality in the workplace.
